I thought I'd share my pattern for booties. I am so very picky about them that I have struggled for years to find a pair of booties that will fit a newborn. I guess it started when my nephew was born prematurely and nothing fit him, not even preemie clothes! Anyway, I just made these last week and I even made them with yarn for an older child. I doubled the sole (made two pieces and crocheted them together) and they are adorable! I hope you like them (sorry there's no picture).

I thought of doing a trim for a boy, but they look cute with just the sc at the top. One of my favorite borders or trims for boys is: (sc, ch3, 2 dc) in nt st, then skip an sc. It forms points and is not lacy or feminine at all.

I must say - THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!! I just LOVE this pattern!! I made a pair last night in white with red ties, sc another round in red around the ankle then sc around the ridge on the bottom (wanted a little more color) and let me say this has become my new all time favorite pattern - it is adorable. i am gathering a bunch of my done projects now to take pics and post. still need to make a white with blue trim to go with the red set and will post it too!!

thanks again!!!!!

Hurray! I am glad you are all liking the pattern. As far as baby yarn goes, I think I used Pompadour yarn. I am thrilled with it, so happy crocheting at share with others if you desire, just please don't take credit for my work, not that any of you would. I guess I'm preaching to the choir!

I am glad that you can use them for your charity work. I am sure they will fit a newborn and if you want them larger, just use a larger hook. Like I said earlier, I too have had difficulty with things that will fit and look good. I don't liek booties where you make the instep separate and so I took someone else's idea and changed it to my own. I guess that's what writing a pattern is all about! happy crocheting! Brenda
