Simply Sweet Baby Hat

Caron Simply Soft Yarn

E Hook for Preemie

F Hook for Newborn


Ch. 5 and make ring.
Note: (chain 2 is not a stitch and you will skip the chain 2 when joining)
Rd. 1 ch 2, 12 dc in ring. Join, ch. 2.
Rd. ch. 2, dc in same st. as ch. 2, 2 dc in each dc around, join. ch 2. 24 dc
Rd. 3 ch 2, dc in same st as ch. 2, *dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * 36 dc
Rd. 4 ch 2 dc in same stitch as ch. 2, dc in each dc around, join. 36 dc
Rd 5-9 Repeat row 4.
Rd 10 ch. 1, hdc in same st as ch. 1, hdc in each dc around, join. 36 hdc.
Rd. 11 ch. 1, sc in same st. as ch 1, *ch. 2, sc in next hdc, repeat from * 36 sc

Weave ribbon thru row 9 if desired.

Thank you so much, this was adorable! That last row really added in the cuteness. I tied a little bow to the front of the hat. To make the bow, I ch 35 and fastened off both ends. Then just tied it onto a dc in row 9. I carefully cut the loose ends about 1/4 in from the knots.

I never know what to get people for baby showers, but from now on I'm sticking with this one. I think it is really personal to give someone a handmade gift. This is for a coworker; he and his wife are expecting a baby boy, so I made the hat in the baby blue color. Just plain ol' red heart yarn, worsted medium.

I made this for a 5mo. old baby. I added a few rows of a snapdragon stitch. The mom LOVED it:clap.
