Life is Just Peachy – 18” doll
Crochet + knitting patterns
DNBO = Do Not Break Off
The pattern includes pants, a top and the messenger bag which are crocheted and the hat and cape which are knitted.
The crochet involves sc, sl st, dc and hdc. The knitted parts include knit, purl, yarnover, knit 2 together, knit 2 together Through Back Loop, and Knit one front and back (k1fb)
I used Bernat Super Value yarns and various hooks.
The knitting was done with 5.5mm needles
with Brown Bernat Super Value (WW) and 6mm hook
Legs… do not break off after 2nd leg
Ch 20 and join… work 8 rows of 20 dc.
Torso: Align the two leg parts with the join areas to the back… join with sc in 6 stitches then begin to work around torso section… ch 1 dc in 9 dc, (2 dc in next, dc in next,) twice, 2dc in next, 2 tr in next, 3 Tr in crotch join, 2 Tr in next, (2 dc in next, dc in next,) tree times, then dc to first DC in row. Work one dc into the crotch join as you go past it.
Torso row 2: dc around… at this point I have 41 dc but that is just a ballpark number.
Work 3 more rows of dc – work 2 decreases at the back on the last dc row.
Work a row of sc around an elastic waistband. Secure and tidy all ends.
Top: use WW yarn in cream, peach and brown with a 6.mm hook
With cream, ch 21
Row 1: hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each chain across. (20 hdc)
Row 2: sc in each hdc, ch 5 tightly- forms button loop so you can omit this if you wish.
Row 3: work 2 FPsc in each sc (40 FPsc)
Row 4: ch 2 [or 3-1st dc in row] and work dc in every FPsc. Secure cream but DNBO.
Row 5: with Peach, sc in 6, ch1, sc in 8, ch 1, sc in 12, ch 1, sc in 8, ch1, sc in 6. Secure Peach but DNBO
Row 6: Pick up cream, and work sc in every sc and (sc, ch1, sc) in every ch 1 space. Break off Cream and tidy all ends.
Row 7: Pick up Peach and work as for Row 6.
Row 8: Ch 2 (or 3) dc up to and into ch 1 space, ch 4, work dc in next ch 1 space, dc up to and into ch 1 space, ch 4, work dc in next ch 1 space, dc to end.
Row 9: work dc in each dc but work 2 dc dec. over the ch 4 spaces. Secure Peach but DNBO.
Row 10: attach Brown, and work sc in every dc. Secure brown.
Row 11: Pick up the Peach and work a row of sc. Break off Peach and tidy all ends.
Row 12: With Brown, work a row of sc.
Row 13: dc in 2 *3dc in next, dc in 3) to end. It might not work out evenly. Break off and tidy all ends.
With peach attach the yarn in the underarm(s) and work rows of stitches around the armhole. For the first 2 or 3 rows, work sc in the underarm and hdc for the rest. Continue in hdc until the arms are long enough for your doll. You may need to make an occasional decrease to keep the sleeves in shape.
Decorate with a button if you wish
With Peach and 5.mm hook
Row 1: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in 10, 3 sc in last ch, sc in 10 ch (other side), work 1 more sc in beginning stitch and join.
Rows 2 – 8: work evenly in hdc joining for every row.
Strap… Ch 30 ( or more if needed) and attach with a slip stitch on the other side then slip stitch back along the strap and secure on beginning side. Continue to work hdc across the back of the bag only to form the flap.
Flap: Row 2: hdc across
Row 3: hdc across skipping the last stitch.
Row 4: sl st in first stitch and hdc to end.
Repeat Rows 3 and 4 two more times and then end with a row 3. break off and tidy away ends.
Decorate with buttons… they are for show only and do not function other than adding weight to keep the flap down.
Bernat Super Value (WW) in Peach and 5.5mm needles.
Hat: Cast on 18 sts.
Rows 1-3: knit
Row 4: p14, k 1, p1, k2
Row 5: knit
Repeat rows 4 and 5 until the piece measures 9 inches and you finish on a row 4 repeat.
Knit 2 more rows then bind off on a knit row and leave a long tail for sewing up the back seam. You should be at the back of the hat at this point. The Brim/front is the area with the [k1, p1, k2]
Sew up the back seam and tidy all ends.
Attach yarn and crochet ties at the front where the brim folds back. I do a ch 30 and 4 dc into 3rd ch from hook. Break off and tidy all ends.
I added a tassel but I have always loved them and it is not necessary if you (or your little one) do not like them.
Cape - knit
Bernat Super Value (WW) in Peach and 5.5mm needles. (6mm needles are used later in the pattern but are not strictly needed. They cause more flare)

I do not have a problem with people/groups using my patterns to make a little extra money by physically making them and selling the items they make.
However, I do not permit the selling of my patterns for money. I have once given permission for a booklet to be made of them for a charitable sale and I may do so again *if I am asked* and if it is for a church, charity or school type group. But first you have to ask.
Furthermore, If you choose to use my patterns as a money maker, I do not permit my images to be used for any advertizing of your work. You must make your own item and photograph that. These images are as much a part of my Web image as a designer as the patterns are and I reserve that use to myself alone.
