So I'm trying to make a blanket and it has these two stitches called DCFP and DCBP. I've determined the meaning of the acronyms as being Double Crochet Front Post and Back Post. However, being relatively new to crochet, I can't seem to wrap my brain around this concept. I tried doing it how it sounds... by putting my hook through and actually wrapping around the post, but it came out looking completely icky and I'm sure it isn't right.

This pattern is a free one on the Bernat website, so I'm assuming it's ok if I replicate this small portion of it. The directions for DCFP read as follows:

"YO and draw up a loop around post of next st at front of work 1 row below, inserting hook from right to left. (YO and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice - 1 dcfp made."

For DCBP it is the same, just "... around post of next st at back of work ..."

I just don't get it :think So if anyone can explain this in easier terms, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

It actually does mean to wrap your hook around the post. I'm lousy at explaining things without seeing the person, but maybe these two videos will help: Front & Back Posts. Good luck with it!

Edit: hmcquigg & I must have been typing a reply at the same time! :)
