:) Hi all. Looking for a newer pattern for a purse/tote made out of granny squares. I am seeing these purses/totes in the store and they are expensive. Looking to make one for my mom as she has been admiring them. Some are made out of yarn and some out of thread. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Here's one.

And here's another one.

And another. (This one's a PDF, though.)

And another.

I found all of those on Crochet Pattern Central - and those were the only ones that were specifically titled "Granny Square" bags. You might want to check out the complete listing - I wouldn't be surprised if there were some more that didn't have "Granny Square" in the title somewhere.

Also, you might want to check out the free patterns available at craft stores. I recently got RAOK'ed with some free patterns and one of them was a granny square purse/bag pattern. I think it was from Joann's, but I can't remember for sure.
