Starting Cluster: Ch 2, [yo and draw up loop, yo and bring through 2 loops on hook] 2 times, yo and bring through all three loops on hook.

A couple of months ago, Autumn and Emma from the Yahoo Sisters of the Snowflake group asked if I might consider designing an exclusive snowflake for the group.  That got me started thinking I probably ought to do exclusive snowflakes for the Crochetville and Ravelry snowflake groups, too.  I've been trying to keep a Snowflake Along thread alive here in the CAL category, and I'd like to see it keep going, even if the group isn't extremely active outside of winter.

I believe there is no such thing as too many crocheted snowflakes or too many free crocheted snowflake patterns!  Crocheted snowflakes make awesome gifts, gift toppers, decorations, window decorations, card embellishments and clothing/accessory applique.

Some people would rather have crocheted snowflakes than real snowflakes.  Me -- I love winter, and I love snowflakes, real or not.  So here's an exclusive snowflake just for Crochetville:

Special Stitches

Starting Cluster: Ch 2, [yo and draw up loop, yo and bring through 2 loops on hook] 2 times, yo and bring through all three loops on hook.

Cluster: [Yo and draw up loop, yo and bring through 2 loops on hook] 3 times, yo and bring through all four loops on hook.

Make magic ring.

Round 1: Starting cluster in ring, * ch 8, sl st in 6th ch from hook, ch 2, cluster in ring; repeat from * 4 times; ch 2, 1 dc in starting cluster to form final ch 4 sp of round, ch 2, dc around post of dc just made to form final ch 6 loop of round.  Pull magic circle tight, but leave opening big enough to allow stitches inside it to lay flat.

Round 2: Starting cluster in loop just made, ch 10, sl st in 6th ch from hook, ch 4, * cluster in next ch 6 loop, ch 10, sl st in 6th ch from hook, ch 4; repeat from * around 4 times; sl st in starting cluster.

Round 3: 1 sc in same starting cluster, * ch 6, cluster in next ch 6 loop, ch 6, 1 sc in next cluster; repeat from * around 5 times, omitting last sc of final repeat, sl st in starting sc.

Round 4: 1 sc in same sc, ch 7, 1 sc in next cluster, ch 7, 1 sc in next sc; repeat from * around 5 times, omitting last sc of final repeat; sl st in starting sc.

Round 5: Ch 10 (counts as 1 dc and ch 8), 1 sc in next sc, ch 8, 1 dc in next sc, * ch 2, 1 dc in same sc (V-stitch made), ch 8, 1 sc in next sc, ch 8, 1 dc in next sc; repeat from * around 4 times; 1 dc in 2nd ch of starting ch 10 to form last V-stitch of round.

Round 6: Starting cluster in same V-stitch, * ch 10, 1 dc in next sc, ch 5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in next ch, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 dc in next ch, 1 dc in same sc, ch 10, cluster in next V-stitch; repeat from * around 5 times, omitting last cluster of final repeat; sl st in starting cluster; bind off.  Weave in ends.

ETA: forgot to add special stitches

Well how cool is that? No pun intended.

Haven't seen you around and was wondering the other day how your biking and snowflakes were coming along. Thank you for sharing the pattern.

Love the snowflake.  I use to make them out of sewing thread.  Really need to get back to doing them.

Wow!  Awesome!  Thank you for sharing and giving us our very own snowflake.  I love all your snowflakes and although I have a difficult time with thread items these days, I still like to try snowflakes every year.

Thanks for the snow flake pattern.  I lost all of my Christmas ornaments, so will have to start a new set.  This one will help. :)

Definitely agree about never having too many snowflake patterns.  This is very pretty and I like the colors too.

I have admired your snowflakes for sometime and also enjoy your photos and blog.  I admit to lurking on the snowflake CAL and referred someone to it just the other day.  Thank you for so many beautiful patterns.
