hello! i need assistance joining a new ball of yarn. my project consists of lacy scallops, so i assume the technique for achieving a seamless transition is different than it would be for a closer-knit project. (closer-crochet project? hmm!)
any tips?
how to join a new ball of yarn to lacy/open pattern?

Work a stitch up to the last step, where you have two loops on the hook. Drop the old yarn, and pick up the new yarn, and use the new yarn to complete the stitch. Continue stitching with the new yarn. Leave a long tail of both yarns, so you can weave in the ends. Do this with a tapestry needle, sew the ends into the stitches in diffrent directions.

It's official--I cannot type the word "stitch", it always comes out "sttich".
