What you need:
Size h-5.0mm Crochet hook
All yarn is medium weight; worsted 4ply
Jiffy White
Red Heart Light Brown
Red Heart Dark Brown (Chocolate)
Gauge:
4inches =11 stitches and 13 rows.
My Measurement scale:
*NEWBORN*
Head 13-14 in.
Hat Height 5.5-6 in.
Legend:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (sl st)

Number in parenthesis is how many stitches per row [ex.: (6)=6 stitches for that row]
Sequence of row for colors:
Light Brown- Rows 1-6
Dark Brown- Row 7-8
White- Rows 8-12
Light Brown-Rows 13-15
Dark brown- Row 16
When reading the pattern, each new line is a new row:
HAT:
Row 1) Ch 4; sl st to make ring;
Row 2) Ch 1 (this counts as your first sc), sc in the ring 5 times (total of 6 stitches)
Row 3) 2sc in 'each' of the next 6sc (total of 12);
Row 4) *sc, 2sc in next sc* repeat this sequence 6x for a total of 18 stitches.
Row 5) *sc 2, 2 sc in next sc* repeat sequence 6x for a total of 24 stitches
Row 6) *sc 3, 2sc in next sc repeat from * 5 more times (30 stitches)
Rows 7-16
From here sc around continuously, changing out the colors as instructed above the pattern, until you reach total length determined by the measurement chart above. Tie off and weave in ends.
Pom:
Start with the white and dark brown together.
Wrap the yarn around a 4" object (cup, cardboard...etc) 10 times.
Drop the dark chocolate and then continue with the white 25 more times.
Remove yarn from the object, tie securely in the middle.
Cut both ends evenly to create pom.
Attach to the top of the hat.
