can anyone tell me what kind of pattern this is?

I would LOVE to make a shawl like this----the middle one jane seymour is wearing. Can you tell me what I need to search for when looking for a matching pattern? I don't know what you'd call that... the spaces in it.. etc.

I can't tell for sure what shape that is, but Lion Brand has a couple of nice designs similar to that if you're looking for a triangle. The one I've used a lot is a basic half-square design with rows of eyelets (they come up with new names for each type of yarn, but it's really the same pattern.)

It looks like the butterfly stitch. doing it like this across makes a rectangle shawl.

I saw that butterfly look near the top edge, but then looked at the bit by the little girl's arm (near Jane's left elbow), and it looked more like filet there.  Hmm.
