All was working well until today, and now when I click on New Content, none is shown, though I know that's not possible.

I had the same thing happen to me. Scroll down the page a little and make sure your "filters" on the left are set the way you wanted them. Somehow I had clicked on "Just items I started" and it wouldn't show everything else.

Thanks, Andrea. I fiddled around with those filters and somehow got back where I wanted to be! Still not sure what I did!
