Baby Sock Monkey


MATERIALS:
Size 4 yarn
Color A (White, Natural, or color of your choice)
Color B (Brown, Grey, or color of your choice)
Color C (Red)
Size G crochet hook
Black Yarn for nose/eyes
Stuffing and Stuffing Tool
Yarn needle

Leg One
Rnd 1: With color A, 6 sc in adjustable ring (6)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc (12)
Rnd 3-10: sc in each sc (12)
Rnd 11-20: change to color B, sc in each sc (12)
Rnd 21: sc in next 3 sc only (12)
Rnd 22-24: ch 1, turn, sc in next 3 sc (3)

Leg Two
Work the same as leg one through Rnd 20, do not fasten off, sew leg one to leg two at the third sc after the last one, continue to work in Rnds to make body.

Body
Rnd 21: sc in each sc (24)
Rnd 22: sc in next 10 sc, change to color A, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next 3 sc, sc in next 2 sc, change to color B, sc in next 7 sc (27)
Rnd 23: sc in next 9 sc, change to color A, sc in next 2 sc, change to color C, sc in next 8 sc, change to color A, sc in next 2 sc, change to color B, sc in next 6 sc (27)
Rnd 24: sc in next 8 sc, change to color A, sc in next 2 sc, change to color C, sc in next 10 sc, change to color A, sc in next 2 sc, change to color B, sc in next 5 sc (27)
Rnd 25: sc in next 9 sc, change to color A, sc in next 2 sc, change to color C, sc in next 8 sc, change to color A, sc in next 2 sc, change to color B, sc in next 6 sc (27)
Rnd 26: sc in next 10 sc, change to color A, sc in next 10 sc, change to color B, sc in next 7 sc (27)
Rnd 27: sc in next 12 sc, dec three times, sc in next 9 sc (24)
Rnd 28-35: sc in each sc (24)
Rnd 36: sc in next 2 sc, dec (18)
Rnd 37: sc in next sc, dec (12)

Head
Rnd 38: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc (18)
Rnd 39: sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc (24)
Rnd 40: sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc (30)
Rnd 41-45: sc in each sc (30)
Rnd 46: sc in next 26 sc only, move marker to last sc (30)
Rnd 47: change to color A, sc in each sc (30)
Rnd 48: sc in next 3 sc, dec (24)
Rnd 49: sc in next 2 sc, dec (18)
Rnd 50: sc in next sc, dec (12)
Rnd 51: dec (6) close with drawstring method

Muzzle
Part 1
With color C
Rnd 1: ch 2, sc in 2nd chain from hook (1)
Rnd 2:ch 1, turn, 2 sc in each sc (2)
Rnd 3: ch 1, turn, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc (3)
Rnd 3-8: ch 1, turn, sc in each sc (3)
Rnd 9: ch 1, turn, sc in next sc, dec (2)
Rnd 10: ch 1, turn, dec (1)

Part 2
With color A
Rnd 1: attach yarn at Rnd 2, sc in next 8 sc, ch 3, attach on other side, sc in next 8 sc, ch 3, attach with sl st to first sc (16)
Rnd 2: ch 1, sc in first sc and in next 7 sc, 3 sc in ch 3, sc in next 8 sc, 3 sc in ch 3, attach to fist sc with sl st (22) Leave a long tail for sewing to the head.

Eyes
Use Black Yarn, Make Two.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in adjustable ring (6) Join with sl st to first sc, leave a long tail for sewing to the head.

Ears
Rnd 1: with color B, 6 sc in adjustable ring (6)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in next 3 sc, ch 1, turn (9)
Rnd 3: 2 sc in next 6 sc (15) Leave a long tail for sewing to the head

Arms
Rnd 1: with color A, 5 sc in adjustable ring (5)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc (10)
Rnd 3-10: sc in each sc (10)
Rnd 11-19: change to color B, sc in each sc (10)
Rnd 20: dec, sc in last sc (5)

To join arms to body, take a piece of yarn and run it threw the inside of the arm, then threw the body, then threw the inside of other arm, the back threw the body, then tie the strands together twice.

Tail
Rnd 1: with color A, 6 sc in adjustable ring (6)
Rnd 2-5: sc in each sc (6)
Rnd 6-20: change to color B, sc in each sc (6)

Flatten, sew together, then sew to back in center at the top of the white.

Cute. I'll make it and add it to the sock monkey blanket I made for my grandson. The baby sock monkey will complete the gift. Very creative.

This is the best crocheted sock monkey I've ever seen! In the past, all the ones I've seen that really look like the original sock monkey have been knit. You have done a wonderful job on this pattern!!!

I have a nephew who has always loved the sock monkey and any others like it. He'll go crazy over yours, so I'll have to make it for him. Thank you so much!
