May I ask if you used thread (if so, what size) or yarn?

I use different kinds of thread - it is usually the thread that has about 600m for 100g so I guess it is 5'' thhread (but I am not sure). It is good for bookmarks, but you can use any thread or yarn.

What size hook are you using?

Usually 1.6mm or 1.75mm - I don't know what size it is in US, the same as for doilies :)

Thank you so much for this pattern! :hug I am always looking for small gifts to give. I am going to try it first with size 10 cotton and about a 9 or 10 size hook. Or maybe size 20 thread and a 14 hook. I will let you know what I come up with. :hook

I love them. They are so lovely. I even printed out your kindly-shared pattern. I have been trying not to add anything new to my long list of must-do's.

They are so beautiful! I've never crocheted with thread, but DGS #1's mom loves butterflies, and she loves to read, so I guess I will try to make her one for Christmas. Thank you for sharing this lovely pattern.

Now that I have made your butterfly, I have to Thank You again. I made it in baby yarn, as I have been looking for a butterfly pattern that would look good as an applique on baby things. Your pattern is not only lovely, it is easy and just what I have been looking for. Thank you for your skill and sharing.

I am really happy that so many people could use this butterfly pattern in so many ways!

I just wanted to show you what I made a few days ago :) I needed some orange jewelery for a few girls and my first thought was: BUTTERFLIES! So I made 11 pairs of earrings, using the pattern for a small butterfly bookmark. Here they come!

I made these back in October for my 13 year old daughter's birthday party ......BUT most of her friends got sick before the party and so we didn't have a party.

A few days later I packed up the bookmarks (enough for all her friends-- made in all colors) and packed them in her lunch......she and them were so surprised to get them and they loved them. Several teachers loved them too so I was asked to make a few for the teachers too---:hook

These are great! The butterflies would be perfect to donate to the Houston Holocaust Museum. Here's that thread for anybody interested: http://www.crochetvi...ead.php?t=99710
