#1592088 Welcome to Crochetville! Please read before posting.

Posted by Crochetville LLC on 16 January 2009 - 09:01 AM

Hello! We're so glad you've decided to join Crochetville. We're always thrilled to meet new crocheters and share in the fun of our craft with each of you. :manyheart

After posting your introduction to the board in a new thread (please do, we'd love to say hello!) be sure to check out the Rules Forum and the FAQs and Tips Forum before you post in the other areas. You'll find all kinds of good information in those forums, including guidelines for acceptable image size, copyright law information, and tips for how to post photos in a thread. Trust us, you may not want to post a picture now, but you will soon!  We also try to give important updates in the Board Announcements Forum, so be sure to drop in there every so often to keep up with the current Board News. If you've got questions on how to use the board that aren't answered in those sections, please post a question in Board Help and someone will be along to help you quicker than quick.

We're very glad you joined us, so stick around and show us what you're working on today! :hook

Reporting Problems

Please report any problems or concerns you have to us. Correcting another member's behavior (either in forum posts or via private message) tends to further escalate situations; such forum posts may be subject to removal without notice.

You may use the "Report " button (little white triangle outlined in red) to let Amy and Donna know about any posts or PMs of concern so we can review the situation. You may use the Contact Us form to let us know of any other issues of concern.

We regret that we cannot respond individually to each person who reports an issue, but please be assured that we read each message and will take whatever action we deem appropriate.

Repeated and/or blatant violation of Crochetville's policies may result in temporary or permanent loss of various forum privileges or in being banned from Crochetville, with or without notice. Such actions are always a last resort to enable us to maintain a pleasant forum experience for the vast majority of our members. We prefer to talk things out with members and come to a mutually agreeable solution to any issues that may arise.

We can't predict every situation that might occur. We reserve the right to handle some situations on an individual basis.

Questions/Concerns about our community policies?
If you have general questions or concerns about any of our policies, please post a message in Board Help. If you have questions or concerns about a specific situation related to our policies, please use the Contact Us form, although member privacy concerns may prevent us from discussing certain details. Discussion of specific situations or administrator actions does not take place on the forum. Such posts will be removed and a member's ability to participate on the site may be affected.

#2539622 C’Ville February 2013 Tote

Posted by Tampa Doll on 28 January 2013 - 08:48 AM

February the shortest month of the year, in this month we celebrate love and 2 President’s Birthdays.  It seems like it just starts and it is over.

As a January birthday baby, many a times I had to have my party in February due to snow or ice.  Sometimes we would think February was safe, then Bam we would get hit with a blizzard.  The only good thing about February snow was that it did not last long, usually.

Valentine’s Day, the day for lovers and friends to show appreciation to each other.  I remember growing up, writing out Valentine cards for all my classmates.  Our teachers told us you either give to all or give to none.  My Mom always had a small box of the hearts for us along with a card.  It always made the day special.  This was one special day, when my Dad was not working, because he would make heart pancakes or French toast.

Then we come to Lincoln’s and Washington’s Birthdays.  They use to be celebrated as two different holidays, now they are one President’s Day.  We always looked forward to the candy cherries we would get for Washington’s Birthday.  They were two hard candy cherries on each end of a green straw that was folded in half.

Except for some of us having the day off, President’s Day is over shadowed by Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day is the day for lovers and friends.  Some of us celebrate a birthday, engagement, anniversary and Wedding.  This is a happy day and enjoyed by all.

So in the spirit of Valentine’s Day I give you February’s Tote Love.

Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy President’s Day to one and all.

#2470918 5/30/12: Changes to Terms of Use (Social Sharing)

Posted by Amy on 30 May 2012 - 01:39 PM

Hi, Crochetville Members!

Whether you visit Crochetville every day or infrequently, we thank you  for being a valued part of our community. We also want to let you know  about some changes to our Terms of Use.

Social Media Sharing

Since Crochetville's beginning in 2004, there have been many changes  to the use of social media on the internet. Blogs and websites have  added social sharing buttons to their posts and pages, making it easier  for site visitors to tweet, share, like, pin, etc. Site visitors  frequently share content without checking a site's sharing policies.

Because of these widespread changes in internet user expectations and  behavior, we must make some changes to our Terms of Use. Similar changes  have been made by other crafting community sites, such as  craftster.org, crochetme.com, and other sites managed by Interweave  Press. Our new policy is:

To reach crocheters beyond the Crochetville community,  Crochetville staff, users, and site visitors may now share some of the  contributions you've made to the community on social media sites. By  posting content (including but not limited to images) on Crochetville,  you agree that Crochetville and our site members and visitors may share  it on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and/or  any other social media outlets that may come into existence. EXCEPTION:  Complete patterns can not be shared outside of   Crochetville, although  a link to the pattern and  pattern photos may be  shared.

This  policy applies to all content posted on June 1, 2012, and  afterward. If you have  uploaded images or other content in the past and  wish to remove this content as a  result of the policy change, please  do this before August 1. After August 1, 2012, all content posted on  Crochetville may be shared on any social media site.

Please pin, like, or tweet your favorite Crochetville posts. (Don't forget to link back to the post on Crochetville.) We love seeing your favorites and  sharing your amazing work with others.

Links

Crochetville staff and members may post links to other web pages.  Because Crochetville has no control of such web pages, you acknowledge  and agree that Crochetville is not responsible for the availability of  such external web pages and does not endorse and is not responsible or  liable for any content, advertising, products or other materials on or  available from such web pages. You are responsible for the links you  post. You should not post links to sites you believe are infringing upon  the copyright or trademark of another party.

You further acknowledge and agree that Crochetville will not be liable,  directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss (direct, indirect,  special or other consequential damages for any use of this website, or  any other hyperlinked website, including, without limitation, any lost  profits, business interruption, loss of programs or other data on your  information handling system or otherwise) caused or alleged to be caused  by or in connection with the use of or reliance on any such content,  goods or services available on or through any such web page, even if we  are expressly advised of the possibility of such damages.

Thank you!
Amy and Donna

#480316 Reporting General Guideline Violations

Posted by Amy on 28 September 2006 - 07:48 AM

First of all, a big thank-you to those Crochetville members who do their best to follow our forum guidelines. Our guidelines are designed to help our large community run smoothly and provide an enjoyable experience for all our members. If you aren't familiar with our guidelines, please take a few moments to click on the previous link and read through them.

Unfortunately, in a community this large, there are going to be some members who violate our guidelines from time to time. Some violations may be because the member hasn't taken the time to read the guidelines. However, all members are responsible for knowing and following our guidelines. Sadly, other members choose to violate our guidelines on purpose.

Remember, the guidelines apply to all aspects of Crochetville: posts on the forum, private messages, and emails that are sent through forum services.

We rely heavily on our members to notify the administrators whenever they notice a potential forum guideline violation. Here are some simple instructions to follow when you want to report something you find troubling:

  • Reporting a post: To report a post, just click on the little white triangle outlined in red that appears at the top right-hand side of the post. The forum will send an alert message to the admin team.
  • Reporting a Private Message: Please *forward* the PM to me, AmyS. Forwarding preserves the "electron trail" that serves as proof that the member actually sent the PM. (Just copying and pasting the PM into a new PM you send to me will not work, as that type of information can be falsified.)
  • Reporting an Email Sent through the Forum: This email will arrive with a statement that you've received email from a Crochetville member, or something like that. Please *forward* this email to me at amyshelton AT crochetville DOT org. (You should be able to click on that link to bring up my actual email address in your email program or you can manually turn it into a "real" email address.)
Don't worry about reporting something that may end up not being a violation. We'd rather receive too many reports that end up really being nothing than NOT being notified when there are true, repeated, serious violations of our guidelines occurring. Because of the volume of reports we receive, we may not be able to respond to your personally. However, be assured we do follow up on each report we receive.

You can also rest assured that all reports are received in confidence. And don't worry that someone will immediately be banned because you reported them. If it's a first offense, we'll just gently educate the member about the problem with what they've done, and ask them not to do it again. In the case of repeated offenses, a member may lose their forum access privileges. But in that case, the loss is a result of THEIR continued actions and not as a result of another member "tattling" on them.

#2552388 8' Square Afghan For My Mum

Posted by 24 Carat Crochet on 07 March 2013 - 05:41 AM

I'm new to this site, just joined today.  So, I'm checking out various places and thought I just had to post in the afghan section!  I started crocheting in ernest last April after starting a very strict diet in February as a means of keeping my mind and fingers occupied!  I learnt to crochet from my grandmother almost 40 years ago.

I'm currently making a lot of smaller items mainly for selling - like scarves, hats and wine bottle covers.  This afghan was a present for my mother but I took videos and pictures of it on my bed before I handed it over.

#2546227 Truly Keeping You Safe from Spam

Posted by Amy on 15 February 2013 - 10:23 PM

Has anybody noticed a new box down at the very bottom of the main forum index page titled "Spammers Stopped"?

That's the number of attempted registrations by spammers that our interception software has caught and prevented from from creating accounts here at Crochetville.

The software has only been in place for ONE WEEK and it has already prevented 599 spam registrations!

I could always see the data behind the scenes if I went looking for it in the old software, but it's sort of nice to see it here, front and center.

Not nice that the spammers try to create accounts here, but nice that we can keep them from making a mess of our happy home here at the 'Ville!

#2538774 Neutral Flowers Sampler

Posted by Afghaniac on 26 January 2013 - 12:18 PM

Posting this is probably overkill, because I just posted it on the 'ville's FB page, before I knew the site was back up and running. But I want to try it out.

This is a sampler made from stash yarn and patterns from all over the place over the past month or so. The border is No. 40

from the gifted Edie Eckman's book, "Around the Corner." Additional photo and details on ravelry http://www.ravelry.c...-flowers-afghan

Yea for the Crochetville ladies-in-charge! It all works, and it's easy to use and to read. Thank you!

Posted by katyallen8090 on 18 June 2014 - 01:31 PM

Hi,

heres pics of two more throws I completed just this week, one, the first, is a throw for a neighbor I believe, will suit her decor for sure, and the colorful one, Haven't decided yet, maybe for the vets home. I don't usually work with brown, but the first one was fun, cause the browns were defused with varigated browns, and rust, and tans, and blue, and greens, lol was fun to do, and buff fleck to edge it.

The second one, I found in a bottom bin, just needed the edge put on, so completed that just today too, it was fun, cause of all the colors.....enjoy,,,,,, there are slated for new homes soon!

i just put on clean sheets, so thought this was a good time to lay them out and pic them!!

#2542558 Valentine Color Granny Ghan

Posted by shuttlebuggy on 04 February 2013 - 07:34 PM

Here is my finished granny ghan - I used a couple ideas I got from a few of the motifs in Annie's Attic 101 Granny Squares, in order to make a large ghan and not just small motifs as in the pattern book.

I put 2 rows of chains between each row for more of a windowpane look to it.

So this ghan will be a complete surprise to my new next door neighbor who's a older single lady.  She was soo nice to us when we moved in and comes for coffee and visiting with us.

Hope she likes this yarn Valentine :manyheart

#2524060 Stain Glass Starburst

Posted by Sonsuray on 04 December 2012 - 06:59 PM

This is the second stain glass I did, I changed this one up a bit because I saw this sparkle yarn that was like mother of pearl and it makes the squares look like frosted glass .. :)
