Posted by Crochetville LLC on 16 January 2009 - 09:01 AM

Hello! We're so glad you've decided to join Crochetville. We're always thrilled to meet new crocheters and share in the fun of our craft with each of you. :manyheart

After posting your introduction to the board in a new thread (please do, we'd love to say hello!) be sure to check out the Rules Forum and the FAQs and Tips Forum before you post in the other areas. You'll find all kinds of good information in those forums, including guidelines for acceptable image size, copyright law information, and tips for how to post photos in a thread. Trust us, you may not want to post a picture now, but you will soon!  We also try to give important updates in the Board Announcements Forum, so be sure to drop in there every so often to keep up with the current Board News. If you've got questions on how to use the board that aren't answered in those sections, please post a question in Board Help and someone will be along to help you quicker than quick.

We're very glad you joined us, so stick around and show us what you're working on today! :hook

#2539622 C’Ville February 2013 Tote

Posted by Tampa Doll on 28 January 2013 - 08:48 AM

February the shortest month of the year, in this month we celebrate love and 2 President’s Birthdays.  It seems like it just starts and it is over.

As a January birthday baby, many a times I had to have my party in February due to snow or ice.  Sometimes we would think February was safe, then Bam we would get hit with a blizzard.  The only good thing about February snow was that it did not last long, usually.

Valentine’s Day, the day for lovers and friends to show appreciation to each other.  I remember growing up, writing out Valentine cards for all my classmates.  Our teachers told us you either give to all or give to none.  My Mom always had a small box of the hearts for us along with a card.  It always made the day special.  This was one special day, when my Dad was not working, because he would make heart pancakes or French toast.

Then we come to Lincoln’s and Washington’s Birthdays.  They use to be celebrated as two different holidays, now they are one President’s Day.  We always looked forward to the candy cherries we would get for Washington’s Birthday.  They were two hard candy cherries on each end of a green straw that was folded in half.

Except for some of us having the day off, President’s Day is over shadowed by Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day is the day for lovers and friends.  Some of us celebrate a birthday, engagement, anniversary and Wedding.  This is a happy day and enjoyed by all.

So in the spirit of Valentine’s Day I give you February’s Tote Love.

Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy President’s Day to one and all.

#2552388 8' Square Afghan For My Mum

Posted by CrochetAddictUK on 07 March 2013 - 05:41 AM

I'm new to this site, just joined today.  So, I'm checking out various places and thought I just had to post in the afghan section!  I started crocheting in ernest last April after starting a very strict diet in February as a means of keeping my mind and fingers occupied!  I learnt to crochet from my grandmother almost 40 years ago.

I'm currently making a lot of smaller items mainly for selling - like scarves, hats and wine bottle covers.  This afghan was a present for my mother but I took videos and pictures of it on my bed before I handed it over.

#2546227 Truly Keeping You Safe from Spam

Posted by Amy on 15 February 2013 - 10:23 PM

Has anybody noticed a new box down at the very bottom of the main forum index page titled "Spammers Stopped"?

That's the number of attempted registrations by spammers that our interception software has caught and prevented from from creating accounts here at Crochetville.

The software has only been in place for ONE WEEK and it has already prevented 599 spam registrations!

I could always see the data behind the scenes if I went looking for it in the old software, but it's sort of nice to see it here, front and center.

Not nice that the spammers try to create accounts here, but nice that we can keep them from making a mess of our happy home here at the 'Ville!

#2538774 Neutral Flowers Sampler

Posted by Afghaniac on 26 January 2013 - 12:18 PM

Posting this is probably overkill, because I just posted it on the 'ville's FB page, before I knew the site was back up and running. But I want to try it out.

This is a sampler made from stash yarn and patterns from all over the place over the past month or so. The border is No. 40

from the gifted Edie Eckman's book, "Around the Corner." Additional photo and details on ravelry http://www.ravelry.c...-flowers-afghan

Yea for the Crochetville ladies-in-charge! It all works, and it's easy to use and to read. Thank you!

#2542558 Valentine Color Granny Ghan

Posted by shuttlebuggy on 04 February 2013 - 07:34 PM

Here is my finished granny ghan - I used a couple ideas I got from a few of the motifs in Annie's Attic 101 Granny Squares, in order to make a large ghan and not just small motifs as in the pattern book.

I put 2 rows of chains between each row for more of a windowpane look to it.

P1060195.JPG P1060196.JPG

So this ghan will be a complete surprise to my new next door neighbor who's a older single lady.  She was soo nice to us when we moved in and comes for coffee and visiting with us.

Hope she likes this yarn Valentine :manyheart

#2536416 My favorite afgan pattern

Posted by Beverly214 on 15 January 2013 - 02:46 PM

The Cloudy Day Ripple Throw from Red Heart has become my favorite afgan pattern. Because I seem to be genetically incapable of following a pattern exactly as written, I have modifed this pattern to suit my needs and preferences. I like this because the use of different stitches in the sections gives a very visually interesting effect.

I have made 3 of them so far, each a different size (the dark blue one ended up big enough for a queen size bed as my son is 6'5" and wanted it extra big) and color combination using Red Heart with Love yarn. I am currently making it in a baby size using Bernat Softee Baby.

#2539584 Something pretty doily

Posted by Linda on 28 January 2013 - 08:02 AM

For lack of a better name I've called this one "Something Pretty".  I found the pattern while surfing the web one day; don't even know where it was at.  It was made with Lizbeth #20 thread using a #10 hook and measures 14 1/2 inches.

#2538742 We're back!---READ THIS FIRST!

Posted by Donna on 26 January 2013 - 11:10 AM

Hey, everyone! Thank you all for waiting so long for Crochetville to come back online! :ty

Moving to new forum software was a long and intense process, but we are so glad it's done! :yay

Things aren't completely tidied up around here, so please bear with us as we complete the finishing touches.

Avatars on the new forum are larger than the old, so if your avatar looks funny, you may want to upload it at a larger size.

Edited to add: Links that go to the old forum are not working yet. We are still working on getting the old crochetville.org/forum links redirected to the new forum at crochetville.com/community. We should have the redirects finished within a day or so.

If you have any questions or need help, please let us know.

#2524060 Stain Glass Starburst

Posted by Sonsuray on 04 December 2012 - 06:59 PM

This is the second stain glass I did, I changed this one up a bit because I saw this sparkle yarn that was like mother of pearl and it makes the squares look like frosted glass .. :)

#2561927 Comfortghan for Pat54 Delivered Ville Friend

Posted by Tampa Doll on 11 April 2013 - 09:19 AM

Due to unforeseen circumstances with the Postal machinery, Skoggy’s squares lost their clothing (envelope) and were returned naked. :2blush  :rofl

Ami Town took a vote and decided that this square deserves her name, and we found out that it is close to the colors she used.

So here is Skoggy’s square for the ghan.
